Did you know that Virginia is one of the East Coast’s top wine producers?
If you would like to enjoy a glass of wine, visit one of these restaurants near our Kingstowne apartments where you’ll find both local and international varietals:
Known as the place where locals gather, Fontaine offers a warm, personalized welcome just a 20-minute drive away. Every item on the menu is made to order. The chefs take pride in creating the dishes with local, organic ingredients, and each bite bursts with flavor. The vegetables are delivered six days a week, while the baguettes come from a nearby bakery. With dim lighting, the bistro is perfect for date night or a leisurely evening with friends. Try the steak frites with a glass of Beckon Pinot Noir.
The Sonoma Cellar, located a 21-minute drive away, brings a taste of California to Alexandria. Nestled in the heart of Old Town, this wine tasting room features a tech-garage atmosphere where strangers become friends. The wine list features over 180 selections from Sonoma, as well as those from Virginia-based wineries. Enjoy the corn and lump crab scallops with a glass of Copain or Stopalman.
Cheesetique (23 minute drive)
Cheesetique is a place where cheese and wine enthusiasts gather. It began from humble beginnings as an old school cheese shop, and the cheese-centric restaurant and wine bar were added in 2008. The chefs have been recognized by Travel & Leisure and the HuffPost for serving some of the country’s best mac & cheese. The lobster mac is a customer favorite. It features delicate lobster meat, tarragon, sherry, and Fontina Fontal. This dish pairs well with Tenuta Mazzolino or Cabernet Sauvignon.
