Do you enjoy cooking for your family and friends?
If so, the specialty stores near our Kingstowne apartments have everything you need to make unforgettable meals:
Since 1916, Balducci’s has offered the finest, freshest ingredients for the most discriminating palate. The market offers items from local farms along with those from across the pond. Its seafood selection can’t be beat, and the store is one of only a few American destinations to carry cheese from Neal’s Yard.
If you want a sweet after-dinner treat, don’t miss the brownies made by the Greyston Bakery. The company produces 35,000 pounds of brownies daily. While many go to Ben & Jerry’s, others come to Balducci’s where they have become a customer favorite. Balducci’s is an 18-minute drive away.
Let’s Meat on the Avenue
At Let’s Meat on the Avenue, located a 20-minute drive away, shoppers find friendly butchers and small neighborhood charm. An antique butcher block holds the smoked marrow bones, while chalkboard menus advertise the daily specials. The meat and poultry come from both local and international suppliers. The butchers can prepare special orders, and they enjoy providing recipe hints. Offerings include spareribs, lamb loin chops, and Kobe beef from Greg Norman’s Australian ranch.
The Spice & Tea Exchange
What began as a small shop now has locations from coast to coast. The Spice & Tea Exchange opened in 2008 and provides guests with high-quality products and flavorful memories. The spices and teas are hand-selected, and unique blends are created onsite. Many of the items aren’t found in grocery stores, and shoppers can enjoy free samples. The varied selection includes bay leaves, smoked salts, and cardamom seeds. The Spice & Tea Exchange is a 21-minute drive away.
Don’t forget to ask about the Chef’s Demo Series. Local chefs visit the store to demonstrate how to use the spices in entrees, desserts, and cocktails.
