Grab a Slice at a Pizzeria Around Kingstowne

eating pizza in a Kingstowne restaurant

Did you know that pizza came to the United States in the late 19th century?

Before World War II, this delicious dish was only found in Italian neighborhoods. Today it’ s served in thousands of restaurants from coast to coast.

Those near our Kingstowne apartments include:

Delia’s Brick Oven Pizza

When Ted and Soula Theodorou opened Delia’s in 1981, they achieved their shared dream of opening a restaurant. Delia’s has been featured on the Discovery Channel, and was proclaimed as one of the best pizzerias in the book “Everybody Loves Pizza.” The couple uses Old World recipes, and make the dishes from the finest, freshest ingredients. Their children also help with the family business, and guests receive fast and attentive service. Pizzas include pesto chicken, prosciutto white, and classico. Delia’s scrumptious pies are just a 13-minute drive away.

Fairlington Pizza

Established in the 1940s, Fairlington has had only four owners since opening its doors. The current owner has called Arlington home for forty years and enjoys bringing New York-style pizza to his hometown. The restaurant is small and casual, and sports jerseys and colorful paintings adorn the walls. Visitors can build their own pizzas with toppings such as pepperoni, mushrooms, and green peppers. The pies range in size from small to extra large, and they can be enjoyed with the cinnamon sticks. Fairlington Pizza is 17-minute away by car.

Lena’s Wood-fired Pizza & Tap

Step into Lena’s to enjoy Neapolitan wood-fired pizza straight from the oven. Lena De Gruttola was born in 1918. She married John Yates in 1945 and believed that a meal was an event to look forward to and a time for the family to come together. Her dishes were often Italian, and her kitchen was always filled with wonderful aromas. The inspiration for Lena’s Wood-fired Pizza came from the Yates’ family matriarch. Guests feel at home, and regulars are often known by name. The pizzas bake at 900 degrees, and choices include Margherita, Korean barbecue, and New England clam. You can grab a slice at Lena’s just 19-minutes away.

Along with these pizzerias, our apartments in Alexandria, VA, are also near top shopping destinations and world-class attractions. If you would like to call our community home, please contact us. We will gladly arrange a tour where you can see firsthand all we have to offer.
